Osmond Family Hats

Here are a few more hats I made for the Warming Families project. Here is a link to the pattern. I made them in solid colors in honor of the Osmond Family. When the Osmond's performed together they wore signature colors.

Alan - Blue
Wayne - Orange
Merrill - Black
Jay - Green
Donny - Purple
Marie - Pink
Jimmy - Red

So far I have made a dozen hats. That is not as many as some but it is 12 people that will have a warm head that might not have, without these hats.

More Warming Families

I have mentioned Warming Families before on my blog - I was hoping that while I was recovering that I could make quite a bit of hats for this charity. Unfortunetly my recovery hasn't been quite as expected so I wasn't able to get started as soon as I had hoped. But... over the weekend, I picked up my hook and was able to make four hats - that is pretty good I think. I now have 5 total. I would love to make 20 in all but just don't know if I will have the time or energy to complete them. I'm going to try though.

Here are the ones I recently made

Bev's Adult/Teen Hat
Used Impeccables Yarn in Seaside

Two Boy Beanies from SNB: The Happy Hooker
Used Red Heart SuperSaver Multi in Peruvian Print

And finally, I thought a Granny Hat was needed, so I made Bev's Groovy 70s Hat
Also used Red Heart SuperSaver in Peruvian Print.

So far, all are adult sizes. I think my next few hats will be child sizes and probably some solid colors since I am getting a bit tired of the ombre prints.

Weekly Glee Moment 2

Puck is not one of my fave characters but loved seeing him sing this week along with seeing his beautiful smile - something we don't get to see much of.

Donny's New Single

Whoo hoo - today is my birthday, my ba-ba-ba-birthday.

One of my presents (thought he doesn't realize it of course), I got a text from Donny Osmond about his new single (D & M have a new CD coming out). I'm not sure how long this link will be available, but HERE is where you can listen to it. I LOVE IT (of course!!)

Also, he looks FANTASTIC ! But then again, he always does.

Warming Families

I've slowly but surely been working on some hats for Warming Families. It is a charity that is very near and dear to Alan Osmond's heart and helps provide warm homemade knit and crochet hats to the homeless. I found out about it through Bev, the wonderful creator of Bev's Country Cottage, she provides so many wonderful patterns, mainly to be use for charity purposes. She is a talented designer, and has very big heart. Bev was my pattern go-to web site LONG before Ravelry came along.

This picture shows the first hat I just finished. The pattern can be obtained from Bernat.

I have very, very little time to knit and crochet these days so sadly probably won't get a lot done - I'd love to make about 20, many of the girls in the Ravelry Warming Families group have long surpassed that, but with my work demands, my home demands, my friend and family demands and my health demands, I will be lucky to finish 20, but that will be 20 people that will have some warmth that otherwise wouldn't have and that is pretty good.

As you can see, this one has somewhat girly colors and in my experience, at least in my city, the majority of the homeless are men, so the next one I am working on has a bit more masculine colors (at least I hope the finished one looks more masuline).

I will probably mostly be crocheting them (although would love to knit a few baby ones) but I crochet about 50 times faster than I knit, so I will probably stick to crochet.

If you'd like to participate/donate to this wonderful cause, please leave a comment and I'll get back with you.
