My Busy Weekend

 I had a busy weekend this weekend but a good kind of busy.

Saturday, I woke up early to try to finish a gift for a friend's birthday.  I didn't finish it (almost but not quite)

Then we went to Cheesecake Factory for my friend's birthday lunch.  I haven't been there in years!!  They did very well with social distancing.  My sister and I have recommitted to a healthier lifestyle and I am proud to report that we both got something off the "skinnylicious" menu and we passed on the cheesecake (not an easy thing to do at the Cheesecake Factory"

 

 

This next photo - I took quickly in the bathroom (which is why it is blurry) - I just thought it was funny- the ladies hygiene dispenser looked like a face to me complete with a tear drop 😀

After lunch, it started raining & sleeting a bit, but my sister and I drove over to locate "Meals on Wheels" since she has an interview with them this week (fingers crossed).  Since we were near a Walmart, we went in there to pick up some items I need to make a dinner on Sunday.  

My sis then ordered a coffee from a nearby Starbucks using her app and we had trouble locating the actual shop, but fortunetly, finally did and made it home safely.

That evening, I watched Dead Poets Society and finished my friend's gift - a Rubix Cube Tissue Holder, like Sheldon has on Big Bang Theory.

 

Sunday morning started with on-line church.  Then I went to the grocery store because the day before, I couldn't find a Tres Leche Cake (I wanted to get a small cake to go with the meal I was making for my church friend).

Luckily Publix had a cake, then I came home and started working on a Mystery Game Day Crochet Along

 

Marly Bird does one every Super Bowl Sunday - it started at 8 am and it was almost 1 pm by the time I got around to starting so I already felt very far behind.  Then a friend called me and we talked for almost and hour and by then it was time to start making the dinner to take to my other friend.

So...I didn't get very far and after seeing everyone's finished projects (a small bag), I don't think I will make it.  It just isn't my style.  I might make the knitted version, I seemed to like it a little better.  We shall see.

So...about 3:30ish, I started making my friend's dinner....Chicken Enchiladas (using THIS recipe), Mexican Rice, Black Beans and (store bought) Tres Leche Cake and Mango Lemonade.

I then got in the car and drove to midtown to deliver my friend's dinner.  I had a little trouble finding the placed because her address is on a certain road but her house and driveway is actually on a different road (corner lot) - it was a little confusing but I located it and she happily met me at the door with some beautiful flowers from her award winning garden. (Literally, she has won AWARDS for her garden)

 

 I told her that I was supposed to give her flowers not the other way around!! They are beautiful and fragrant a totally made my day!

By the time I got home, it was time for the game, a friend called me and then I called my mom and made some Rotel Cups and settled down to watch the game about 7:15 pm.

WHEW !!  A busy, busy but good kind of busy weekend.  

I need another couple of days off to recover from the weekend !

Today's Topic - All About Me !!!

Let's see - there is a lot I can say on the subject because I am pretty much an expert about "me".

I was born in Duluth, Ga (a suburb of Atlanta).  We moved to Columbus, GA when I was 2 months old, to Alpharetta, GA when I was 9 years 2 months old and back to the Atlanta suburbs when I was 9 years, 8 months old.  Alpharetta, GA wasn't a suburb when we lived there - it was pure country - cow fields and trailer parks but now it is considered part of the suburbs.

I love animals - always have and especially love dogs.  When my last dog passed away though, it was just too much on me, I thought I would die right along with him and quite frankly, I wanted to.  So I have been pet-less since.  I just can't deal with the heart-break again.  But I enjoy spending time with my friends and families pets.

I have CADD - which is my own term for crafting attention deficit disorder. I have several crafty hobbies, besides knitting and crocheting, at some point in my life I have partaken of:

Did I forget anything?  I am sure I did.  If there is a craft, I have pretty much done it at some point in time.  Some went out of style (see string art, hook rugs, macrame), some just were not my passion (see candle making, sewing, punch embroidery) and some have stood the test of time (see knitting, crochet, scrap-booking).

In addition to my crafy addictions, another hobby of mine is traveling.  I love to travel but don't get to do it as much as I would like due to work responsibilities.  I've never been out of the country but if I did go out, I'd love to go to England and Italy.  I also would love to see the Eiffle Tower in person.

In the USA, I've been to 19 different states and I've seen so many beautiful places...

And so much more.

I'm a strong Christian and thank God everyday for things like giving me sight so that I was able to see all those beautiful places.  I believe Jesus died for me and rose again so that I can have everlasting life. I thank God every day that I can see, hear, walk, talk because there are so many that can't do those things, including some people I know.  Everything I have is because of the Lord and I make sure I thank Him for it all the time.  I thank Him that he made me enjoy crafts and gave me the abilities to do those things, that he gave me a wonderful job that I love and a good salary so I can afford to travel.  I thank Him for getting me through the rough times in my life and for blessing me with such a wonderful family and group of friends.  God is just EVERYTHING !

I am grateful to Him right at this very moment as you are reading this - glad to know that you get to share in my love for the Lord!.

So...that is just a teeny, tiny bit of "ME". 

WIP Wednesday

Well...it isn't really a Work-in-Progress anymore - I completed the Rubix Cube Tissue Holder (inspired by the Big Bang Theory)

Last week, we had snow and our office was closed for 2 days, which meant, crafting time for me!  As mentioned before, I had started a Rubix Cube Tissue Box holder,  which I first saw on Polish The Stars.

Well... I messed up the first 2 sides and had to re-do them, setting me back a little bit, but I re-did them and assembled all together while I was home, looking at the pretty snow out my window and catching up on Sleepy Hollow and The Carrie Dairies (I had 3 weeks of each show to catch up on).

So... here are the completed sides (all made the correct size this time) - Fun colors, huh ?

And....here is the completed tissue box.

I can't wait to give it to my friend that I made it for - she will get good use out of it.  Another friend saw it and now she wants one.  But .... I think I am ready to get back to crocheting for a while.

WIP Wednesday

To try and keep myself on track with my crafty projects - I plan on posting some "Work In Progress" projects.

I know I said my main (and really only) goal was to complete my Around the World Afghan and it is (even though yesterday I couldn't resist a Mary Maxim sale and ordered an afghan pattern that I have been wanting for a really long time)

But...I stared this project during the holidays and want to finish it first because it is a small project and won't take me long (hopefully will finish by this weekend.

So this is my first Work In Progress (WIP) Wednesday.

My friend Susan has a LOT of allergies and goes through tissues like no one's business.  She is also a huge fan of the show "The Big Bang Theory".

So...if you have seen this show on a regular basis....you will notice that next to "Sheldon's spot" on the couch is a Rubix Cube Tissue Box - you can see it in the photos below.

So - I almost have 2 sides completed (had some trouble with that blue yarn splitting) and I have 3 more sides to go.  I have considered making a coaster set but not sure yet.  Depends on how much yarn and canvas I have left over.
