W.I.P. Wednesday - Finished Hat

The hat I started last week, worked up super quick with this chunky yarn.  I love the end results.

My W.I.P. (Work in Progress) is now a F.O. (Finished Object)

I hope my aunt likes it.

W.I.P. Wednesday

I'm making headway on my Around the World (never ending) afghan.  I did set it aside a few days though to start making this cute hat.

I saw this yarn and I  just had to make something with it.

It is by Premier Yarn and is in pretty spring colors - It is called Bloom Chunky - isn't it pretty?
It is super soft too.  I don't usually like chunky yarn but this one wasn't "super" chunky and I figured it would work up pretty quick so I decided to get a skein - I ordered online directly from Premier Yarns and it arrived rather quick. I ordered the colorway Hydrangea.

So here is my hat so far....I love it so far!!
All I have left is to shape the crown.
I made it about an inch longer than the pattern states because it is a beanie and I wanted it to have a little bit of slouch to it.

I just love the spring colors and so far, I like the way it turn out.

Westville, Florida Old Post Office

My parents are from a small town of Westville, Florida. So of course, I have been there, many, many times. The population in 2010 was 289.

When you turn into the main road that leads to Westville, you drive by the original Post Office.  It was built in 1883.  I love this old building and if I was rich, I would totally have it restored.  It makes me sad to see it rotting away.  I can't believe it isn't registered as a "Historic Place" but somehow it is not.

According to "A Chronology of Florida Post Offices" by Alford G. Bradbury & E. Story Hallock, the Westville Post Office in  Holmes County, Florida was established April 20, 1883.

I'm not sure when but a new cinder block Post Office was built across the street from it (I will need to get a photo of that on my next trip).  I suspect it was built around the 1950s.  This building is still in use today, but not as a Post Office - I know it has been everything from a general store, to a resturant and a beauty salon.  I can't recall what it is at the moment, but on my next trip, I will take a photo and I will know.

Then sometime later a newer, bigger Post Office was built on the other side of the RR Tracks.  I don't k now exactly when it was built but I remember when it was built so it was in my lifetime.  I think it was sometime in the late 1970s or early 1980s.  This is the current (brick) post office.

Project Life 2020 - Week 14

I just completed my 3rd week of “Stay in Place”.  I went out twice last week, once for work (I go in one day a week) and I went out Friday to pick up some groceries - they had meat!!  The last time I was out, there was none to be had!  I was grateful for that.  Even though meat was limited to 2 packages, I was happy to have it.  I also got some tuna and they had about 7 packages of toilet paper. While I am not out of that, I figured since they had it, I better get a package. I could have gotten 2 but I didn’t want to be greedy since I do have some at home, I figured one 4-pack would be good.

Anyway, I won’t be going out again until I go to work this week.  I shouldn’t need to make another grocery store run, so that will be good.

Here are my Project Life pages for this week.  As always, click you can click on the image to enlarge.

Rebecca's Coat Pattern - Follow Up

As I mentioned in THIS POST - I loved the crocheted coat that "Rebecca" wore in this episode.

I was on a hunt for a pattern and I found a lot of granny square jackets and coats but still not exactly that pattern.

Well...I found one that is pretty, pretty close.  It is THIS ONE  - Brixham Granny Cardi

Now I would not call this a "Cardi" but this is not what I would consider a cardigan.

As you can see - this looks A LOT like the
coat on "This is Us"

It even has the hoodie.

The only difference I see is that the sides are open

But I believe that can easily be fixed by just joining the sides or...if needed, adding some extra squares and then joining.

I am pretty excited that I found this pattern.
