W.I.P. Wednesday - Baby Yoda

I completed the project that I had started last week - it was super quick to make!

And Valerie from Val's Outside Voice...guessed correctly.  I was making "Baby Yoda" - aka "The Child" - the cute little character from "The Mandalorian"

He is going to be a gift for my friend Susan (who, as far as I know, is unaware of this blog).

Her birthday is in October, but I don't know if I can wait that long...not sure when I will see her next but if it is before her birthday, I may just have to give him to her early.

I was happy with how he came out.

If you want the pattern, you can find it HERE

Project Life 2020 - Week 34

My aunt's service was this week, she didn't get the proper funeral she deserved due to Covid-19 restrictions (not allowed to have a church funeral).  She was very involved with her church so it was sad that her church family couldn't all be there.  Some did travel the 2 hours to attend her graveside service though.

It is unfair and sad - if she had been "famous" as some other recent news-worthy people, then she could have had a proper funeral or maybe even 2 or 3 funerals as some of the famous people have had but alas, my aunt was just a normal, everyday person so ... no church funeral allowed for her.  I'm not saying the famous people didn't deserve a funeral, because they did...but my aunt deserved one too.

None-the-less...I understand that it was a very nice service and well-attended by my family and a few members from her church, who were able to make the drive.

Also this week, a piece of mail floated back and forth dispite my attempts to get it to the proper receipient, I had my first dentist appointment in the Covid-19 new "normal" world, I received my property tax bill and got to see Dede Vogt perform (not live, but I will take it) !!

W.I.P. Wednesday - Take a Guess

Today is Work In Progress Wednesday...

I am working on a new project (even though I swore I wouldn't until I finished a big afghan I have in the works), but it is a small project so though I would sqeeze it in.

What do you think it is going to be?

Hint: It is NOT a hat.

Hmmm??? Stay tuned.

Project Life 2020 - Week 33

My aunt passed away this week - although it wasn't entirely unexpected, it seemed to happen suddenly.  She had been through some battles the past few months but had been doing so well, she was so positive, feeling good and going through physical therapy.  She fell ill on Sunday and by Wednesday, she had passed.

I am grateful that my aunt is no longer ill, her body is now healed and she is at peace.

I received some photos of my great niece - who will be 8 years old in a few months - which is so hard for me to believe.  Time flies and you really can see that in children as they grow.

W.I.P. Wednesday - I am Groot (again)

This really shouldn't be WIP Wednesday because I have already finished it but WIP Wednesday sounds better than F.O. Wednesday (Finished Object, not what you may have been thinking...) 😁

We have really been dealing with some things in my family the past few months.

First, my cousin was diagnosed with tongue cancer.  He is not a smoker and has never used any type of tobacco products.  He just finished his 6 weeks of radiation and chemo and we are so glad for that.  Now we just hope and pray that the treatment was successful.

My aunt was diagnosed with cancer in her knee.  She had it before in the other leg but it was a different kind and thankfully she beat it.  However, this one was worse and the doctor's said the only chance of survival was amputation.  She went through with that.  We were so pleased with how well she came through it all and she was feeling great - no pain!! She had a great attitude and was doing her rehab and coming along.  Sadly, she took a very sudden turn for the worse this past weekend and passed away yesterday. They discovered the cancer had spread throughout her body and she there was no way she would have been strong enough to go through treatment and I don't know at that point if it would have even been an option.  She is at peace now and out of pain - no more suffering for her.  For that, I am grateful.

The same aunt's daughter (my cousin) is married and her husband was diagnosed about the same time as my other cousin and my aunt, with cancer too - his was tonsil cancer.  I thought...why don't they remove them, but for some reason that didn't seem to be the road the doctor's wanted to take.  He is still going through his radiation/chemo treatments and seems to be responding well.

His favorite movie is Guardians of the Galaxy and according to my cousin, they watch it every week, sometimes more than once a week.  She asked if I would make him a Baby Groot.

Well...how would I say no to that?  I love my cousin-in-law!!  I was happy to make it for him.

My only issue was I couldn't find the yarn I wanted to use.  In the past, I used Red Heart Super Saver (RHSS) in Cafe Latte.  I couldn't find it anywhere!  So I used Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn in brown.  Groot still came out pretty cute but a tiny bit darker than I like him to be.  I like him to be a little lighter brown so you can see his smile a little better.

I sure hope he likes him! I know my little kitten sure was curious about him.

Front Tucking - Why?

I know this is nothing new but I have been noticing it more and more in ads lately.

Personally, I think that "front tucking" or "french tucking" looks so stupid...like...Oh, I am lazy so I just tucked in the front of my shirt.  It also looks like you went to the bathroom and perhaps got your shirt caught up in zipper or something.

Who came up with this lame idea??

The one below is extra super silly - I mean, this girl barely has any shirt tail at all but yet, she is still trying to front tuck

Luckily you don't see too many guys doing this...in fact, I have never seen a guy in person that has done this...

Do you do this?  If so, please leave me a comment and let me know why, I really want to know.

What do you think of this "fashion statment" - Cool or Stupid?

Grateful to God

This morning, I woke up and had a bit of a morbid thought but a good thought at the same time.

I was grateful to God for letting me wake up to live another day, but at the same time, I thought...today could be my last day.

No one thinks "Today could be my last day alive" but experience has taught me that you just don't know...any day could be our last day.

You could be fine one minute and literally, you life is over the next.

It is just a reminder to be grateful - to be kind to your loved ones and appreciate the gifts God gives you every day.

Project Life 2020 - Week 31

My friend, Susan, spent the week with me this week.  I teleworked all week (except for one day) and we at at home for every meal (except for one).  It was a pretty good week.

Whoa!  Blogger changed it's format a bit and auto-sized the photos - they seem huge! Maybe I will find a way to re-size them.
